"Yesterday I went on a picnic 60 miles southeast of here with my friend Chris and 54 Korean factory workers and {weather} observers. One of the Korean observers I work withs' father owns the factory and had an annual picnic and we went. Koreans are really nice people. The place we went was way up in the mountains and is famous for the pretty leaves. I never saw anyplace as pretty I don't think. It rained all day though." letter home: Oct 27, 1970
Miguk saram Miguk saram "Last week me and my friend Chris went to Chonju, which is a city of 500,000 about 30 miles from here. The only Americans there are about five Peace Corps. workers, so we were really a novelty and had big crowds of kids following us all over. What a beautiful city and area." letter home: Fri.
